COVID-19 / Coronavirus Update

As COVID-19 has led to restrictions on group meetings our choir rehearsals have sadly been suspended at this time.

We are however running a program of online events for our members to join in with to keep them singing, socialising and having fun.

Our choirs will be back open to new members as soon as possible, to book a free trial night for when our choirs re-start please contact

Hanley and the Baird, Directors of Sing in the City have a top 30 single in the UK charts right now that we would love you to download and share.  Follow the Rainbows is now available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Music and Spotify.   All the proceeds ,from this song from release and for 120 days is going to SAMH  After that, it will be our charity song for our Sing in the City Dreampot.

The song was inspired by our Sing in the City members during COVID19 quarantine. It’s down their interaction, enthusiasm and sheer tenacity that has made the song race up the charts to the number 3 position in the Scottish charts and No 27 in the UK download chart.  The support that came from independent and community radio stations was also very  much appreciated

If you are considering joining a choir in Edinburgh, Fife or the Lothians then you should make us your first stop and come and take a FREE trial session with us.

We have choirs that rehearse at night and during the day.  We provide free singing groups with our Pop Up Choirs, have assisted places and aim to make singing and music as accessible for everyone as possible. At Sing in the City we consider ourselves to be more than a choir.  If you are looking for a friendly, fun, inclusive choir with a family feel, then come and take a FREE trial.

Established in 2010 with one choir of 31 members we now have over 1000 members across Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians and are celebrating our 10th Birthday this year by returning to the Usher Hall and taking as many of our members to the theatre on September 11th and 12th.

We are chasing dreams, making memories and have music, social, community and friendship at the heart of everything that we do.  We are very proud to have created an environment where age and ability are irrelevant but don’t take our word for it, come and speak to our team, our members and see for yourself.  You can join a choir in many locations, have a look at our choir pages.

We have a concession price for members who are at retirement age and we are also one of the few choirs that have a full 2 hours rehearsal with a tea break in the middle.  Our attention to music, social, community and charity is second to none.

Here is a little bit of Smile written by Kirsty Baird performed by Hanley and the Baird and the Edinburgh night Sing in the City

Smile – Kirsty Baird (short promo)

This is a short promo of Smile. If you ever wonder what it feels like to sing or sing with others, watch Kirsty's face when Sing in the City join in behind her. The full video will be available on release of the official song.

"You should find you have a similar experience no matter which of our choirs you visit.  All our coaches are members of our Sing in the City Aw Blacks choir (our only auditioned choir) and all our administrators are members of one of the other Sing in the City choirs.  So it really is a family affair.

There is no audition process, you just have to find your way to one of our rehearsal spaces and you will be taken care of for the rest of the night.  You will be introduced to the Sing in the City team and then to a couple of members who will look after you at the rehearsal.  They will share their lyric sheets with you, introduce you to other members and help you find your feet.

” We aim to provide a safe, warm, welcoming and inclusive rehearsal space  for members to sing at a level they choose”

We appreciate that different members join a choir for various reasons, health reasons, to make friends, to have a hobby, to sing, to perform.  It dosn't matter why you join because we pride ourselves on providing something for everyone.  We put a lot of focus on community, social and charity and you have nothing to lose by taking a FREE trial night or morning with us.  We truly aim to be much 'more than a choir'

Hopefully we have a choir in your area that rehearse at a time that suits you.  We have evening and daytime groups. Take a look at the map and see what we have near you and contact us
