Our latest singalong in a care home. This was Ellens Glen House Edinburgh where Kirsty Baird and her volunteer team visited. Armed with a guitar and a list of songs from the 50s and 60s Kirsty sings one song after another. She chats with residents and members of her choir about old memories while singing songs that everyone knows and can sing along to and even dance if they are able.
It’s not a concert, it’s a good old fashioned singalong with energy, fun and full of smiles.
Music is one thing to evoke thought and you watch people come to life as they remember the words to songs from Cliff Richard, Elvis, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and much more.
These sing alongs suit all ages and all types of cognitive decline. You could be perfectly fit and healthy and just fancy some company and socialising.
