On the 4th October 2019 at 11am, we are visiting Castlegreen Care home in Edinburgh with 20 Sing in the City members to sing for hour then we will stay for a cuppa and a blether. We have provided many free performances like this over the last 9 years, so this in itself is nothing new but this is the start of our Community Dreampot ‘Pop Up’ choirs. They could literally ‘Pop Up’ anywhere and will involve anyone that wants to take part and be totally FREE.

We originally had a morning session booked on the morning of 4th October in Pilrig church but this had to be cancelled, so we have replaced this with the carehome visit and are rescheduling a big community Pop Up big sing for later in the month at a time of day more people could attend. In the future, the plan is to put these Community ‘Pop Up’ groups on in many areas especially the areas that we have Sing in the City choir groups rehearsing, Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians.

Everyone has days when they need something to cheer them up, or maybe you want to be in company. Maybe you want to take someone else out to experience singing in a ‘safe, warm, welcoming’ rehearsal space. The point is…. Whatever the reason we won’t ask! Music and singing is proven to help improve mood, it’s impact on mental health and health in general is there to see. The social and community side of singing brings us all together. We encourage everyone to have a little self belief and have a little more confidence to take small steps and just get to the rehearsal and allow us to take care of the rest.
