On Friday 21st June 2019 Kirsty was thrilled to be one of the finalists at the Edinburgh Evening News Local Hero awards ceremony under the category of Music and Arts. She was also honoured to be asked to perform at it. Herself and Annette Hanley (Musical Director) along with 5 members of her auditioned group the Sing in the City Aw Blacks performed 3 songs at the start of the evening.

Two songs written by the girls Smile and 4 on the floor and Sweet Child of mine by Guns and Roses were performed to a room full of very special people.

The night was sponsored by Farmer Autocare and as always Tom Farmers speech was inspirational. Euan McGrory, editor of the Evening news welcomed the guests before handing over to Arlene Stewart from Forth One.

People like Lisa Fleming and Steve Waterstoun were among the worthy winners and Kirsty herself was up against the Love Choir kids group run by Stephen Deazley and Jordan from the eavy Sound CIC and was totally surprised to win the award.

‘I am absolutely thrilled and chuffed to bits to win the award and especially in this category. Either of the other 2 nominees could deservedly have won and I am totally honoured to be able to perform to the room. It’s very much a team game at Sing in the City and I am happy to pick up the trophy on behalf of everyone’
