The Sing in the City Aw Blacks hadn’t busked in Edinburgh city centre for many years. With busking spaces in short supply, and only one space usually allocated to us, we decided to turn this into a fantastic opportunity for all our members to come together for one big busk.
This year, we were lucky enough to secure a space and what a chance it was to put into practice everything we’ve been working on!
The improvement in their movement was fantastic, every finger in place, every movement more confident and purposeful.
And vocally, they have worked incredibly hard to develop their sound. Singing outdoors brings a whole different set of challenges, requiring a different approach to projection, balance and listening. They rose to it brilliantly!
We also raised £150 for our sister CIC, Hanley and The Baird Dreampot. This money will help us continue providing free events and experiences that everyone can enjoy.
And we’re not stopping there!
The next event for the Aw Blacks and Hanley and The Baird is a very special charity performance in the beautiful surroundings of St Giles’ Cathedral, raising funds for RHASS.
To date, Sing in the City has raised over £200,000 for charity and community projects — something we are incredibly proud of. ❤️🎶
