“Scots band share hilarious song” and go viral when Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations were cancelled.
Our Directors are singer songwriters and musicians in their own right. During the pandemic Kirsty Baird took to writing silly Birthday songs for people at their request to cheer them up.
On Hogmanay Hanley and the Baird were meant to be in the Princes Street Gardens with friends celebrating a new year while listening to Texas, Sharleen Spiteri and Callum Beattie. Obviously the weather put end to that plan. So before they went out to meet friends they took 10 minutes to record ‘A sh*te Hogmanay’ song. Kirsty had woke up with idea at 02.30 that morning. It took 2 takes and it was up on social media within 10 minutes and 24 hours later it had gone viral and the Daily Record had picked up on it and also posted about it. “Scots band share hilarious song inviting Sharleen Spiteri to join them in Hogmanay celebrations”
Over 130,000 views on Tik Tok and 75,000 views on facebook with many comments like the ones quoted below.

Hanley and the Baird are will have a new album out later this year and will also be performing at the Queens Hall on Friday 9th May with the Sing in the City Aw Blacks and also at the Usher Hall on the Saturday the 4th October. There will be other events announced early 2025.
Kirsty does not mind being recognised for writing ‘sh*te wee songs’ as ‘they are not so easy to write as some people would think and also the delivery and not taking yourself so serious is all part of the fun, the more people who find Hanley and the Baird in this way, the more people will listen to our less sh*te songs’
