In July 2025 all the hard work pulling 900 people together to perform at the Tattoo came to fruition. We all stood together at the amazing Edinburgh Castle, on the expertly put up seats. In a few days time we were going to have to time our run up the esplanade steps to get into position. We would have around 13 seconds and some of us would need to run to step Q. We embraced the attitude of a ‘Mountain Goat’.
At it turned out over the performances, not one person fell up the stairs. This was our main fear that someone would fall up or down them but no… our members tripped over the violinist plinths at the bottom of the steps. Mostly in relief that they had achieved their role in one piece. Our accident percentage was something like .04% which was amazing.
To stand here like in the video below shows, side by side, in our wonderful colours singing to our fantastic Defender of the Nation was an absolute highlight. One of our ambitions in the future is to stand here again and sing as one group in a similar position. Singing like this led to 25 brilliant performances at the Edinburgh Tattoo with an incredible set up people from across the globe. It filled us with joy and pride and also we learned on the job. This led us to singing Eagles wing with Angus and his band Skipinnish on his stage at the Ovo Hydro no less. Hanley and the Baird led us to Glasgow with 15 stage singers, 200 flashmob singers in the stalls and 200 seated singers lit up in the balcony.
We then invited Angus and some Tattoo friends to our stage in our 3 sold out usher Hall shows in October 2025. This year Kirsty and Annette will be opening for Skipinnish in Dundee and Edinburgh in May, singing their own music with 13 backing singers from the Aw Blacks.
