Why men should join a choir

It’s true, most of our members are women but all of our night time choirs have men as members and most of our daytime choirs do as well.

Men are very much cherished members and tend to get invited to sing more often at the shows to boost male sections in the choirs with less men.  Why not come and take a FREE trial night and see if we can make you feel at home.  No need to look to join an all mens choir.

Go the choir contact form or give us a call but here are some reasons why you should join Sing in the City.

1. It’s a stress release that works fast
Singing lowers cortisol and forces you to breathe properly. It’s like a workout for your nervous system.

2. Instant social circle
You’re doing something together, so friendships form naturally. No forced networking, just shared experiences.

3. Improves confidence
Standing in a group, using your voice, performing, it builds presence. That confidence tends to spill over into work and life.

4. It’s a mental challenge
Learning harmonies, timing, lyrics, it keeps the brain sharp. Think of it as a group puzzle with a soundtrack.

5. No experience required
Most choirs don’t expect polished singers. If you can speak, you can learn to sing.

6. A proper sense of achievement
Working towards a performance gives structure and purpose. That moment when it all clicks?

7. It’s physical (more than people expect)
Breath control, posture, projection, it’s surprisingly athletic. Not quite a gym session, but you’ll feel it.

8. Music without going solo
You don’t have to be the frontman. You’re part of a sound. No spotlight pressure.

9. It’s good for mental health
Regular singing has been linked to improved mood and reduced anxiety. It’s one of the few activities where you leave feeling better than when you arrived.

10. It breaks stereotypes
Choirs aren’t just one type of person anymore. From rock and pop to gospel and contemporary, there’s space for every style and every personality.

11. It gives you something to look forward to
A weekly rehearsal becomes a fixed point in the calendar that isn’t work, screens, or responsibilities.

12. It’s genuinely fun
Try it.
